| Okay, so I went thru the archived post on vets.. And found most of them to be about cats, so I'm posting this since it's about my dog. I appologize if it's not in line, but I could use some solid advice and appriciate the help.
I have a 14 year old dog, whom suddenly isn't doing too great. I'm fairly new to the city and am looking for advice on where I should take him. I live in Friendship/Bloomfield. I'm not against driving somewhere. I just want a honest vet office, with a staff with good bed side manner. I don't need a cold doctor.. I want someone who will treat him with kindness. (I say this because my last vet wasn't the greatest in this department.. And I'm thinking my guy doesn't have too terribly long left. I just want him to be treated right and get solid advice and help.)
Thanks for your time reading and for answering. | comments: 16 comments or Leave a comment |
| I'm 24 and looking for a place to go with a group of others my age, along with someone that is 20, on a Friday/Saturday night. My underage sister just moved into town, so I am going to need to figure out some places where we can go out that she would be allowed to enter. Obviously, most straight-up bars are out, so I would need places where they would admit an under 21'er (with her mom even! My mom will be joining us tomorrow night) that could possibly have entertainment so she doesn't get bored, and drinks. So, something that would appeal to someone 24, but also to someone who cannot drink. Nothing too young though, my mom and I are not looking forward to a Saturday night of chain smoking with high school students at the beehive :). I am on the south side, so bonus for proximity, but we could go anywhere really (since we have a designated driver by default! haha! my poor sister :) ).
Looking forward to any suggestions!!! Thanks!
P.S. Some places I already thought of: DnB and North Park Club house in Robinson. Does anyone know if Arsenal Lanes in Lawrenceville will admit under 21 on a weekend night? | comments: 10 comments or Leave a comment |
| Hey all, my mom is looking for something in the pittsburgh area that is like an older women's sports league, amateurs, more social than anything else. Not serious exercise, but a social gathering of middle-aged ladies that get together every once and awhile. Anybody? Ideas? I gave her the number for the YMCA, but they don't seem to have anything like this. Thank you so much!! | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| | Hey, I'm a student at Douglas Education Center and recently moved to Monessen. I'm wondering if there are any good dance studios in Pittsburgh that would teach lyrical. I'm looking for a studio that is similar to Broadway Dance Centre. I don't want to go to a studio where there's a recital or anything like that. It's hard to find places that teach lyrical when you're 22 years old. Thanks in advance :) | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |

| Thanks to those of you who have recommended Amazing Wok on W. Liberty to me. It's wonderful.
The vegetables are fresh and not overcooked.
The meat is fresh and suitably lean, and not gristly.
The sauces are superior.
They have brown rice available.
It's just a block beyond the Pittsburgh city line, barely in Dormont, almost in Brookline. | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |

| Hi, so I'm relatively new to Pittsburgh, at least in the sense that I'm not yet fully familiar with where to get good food.
I need good jam.
When I first moved here, I got some awesome jam in Toronto, and then mid-way through summer I bought more delicious jam when I went to Lancaster (at Kauffmans.)
But I recently ran out and I've yet to find any good jam here in Pittsburgh.
And I'm not brave enough to buy anything expensive just to find out it's awful.
I keep buying Trader Joe's brand and it makes me sad inside. Because it's gross. And it totally ruins the awesome scones I get from the Mediterra bakehouse (via the East End Co-op.)
So plase share with me what you know about good jam in the 'burgh. (And other food too!) | comments: 16 comments or Leave a comment |

Hi there! I'm back on LJ after a long hiatus and losing my interest to post on my old journal. I intend to change all that with this new journal. So far I only have two tiny entries but I hope to expand that, as the holiday season falls upon us and as my creativity progresses.
I'm looking for friends who'd be interested in the same things I am and would leave a comment every now and then when they feel so inclined. I like reading about all sorts of things - even if you think your life is boring, I'll probably still find something to say about it! I am: ...from Pennsylvania ...26-years old ...a single (bisexual, though I prefer men) female (not really looking though) ...a huge fan of Matthew Gray Gubler and Criminal Minds ...a fan of Dexter, House M.D., Six Feet Under and CSI (Vegas, not Miami or NY so much) ...a starving artist always seeking inspiration, a muse, anything! ...the proud owner of two cute cats and a stupid dog ...interested in people and things of all sorts, especially unique and/or creative/artsy-fartsy types ...sarcastic, dry, "dark" ...almost always at home due to chronic knee problems and seizures ...interested in getting into the "world" of LJ - i.e. I'd love to start making icons, picspams, etc. ...terrified of clowns ...made of skin and bones so I hate cold weather And of course there's more info on my profile page! If you have some things in common or just want to add me then feel free (with the exception of friends collectors please. I don't want to be just a number) and I'll most likely add you back. Thanks for reading and I hope to get acquainted with some of you! x-posted

| Oh, for the love of Mike.
The Idiot Boy mayor has asked city council to tax college students for the privilege of going to school in Pittsburgh.
While Pitt and UPMC remain tax exempt.
Does anybody else see anything wrong with this picture? Let's tax poor college students (many of whom are city residents or employees of city businesses, and thus *already* taxed for their use of city services) while the wealthiest corporations in our city continue to cry "non-profit!" and pay nothing.
Oy vey ...

| Anyone know what's going on with all the helicopters and police cars zooming around downtown? I'm in Oxford Center and a police helicopter flew by my window a few minutes back, it zoomed in between Oxford and the Grant Building, which was pretty crazy.
I know the Russell Crowe movie is filming on the Allegheny River bridges today, is this madness for that? Or is it other madness entirely? | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| | This afternoon after I bought a few items at the Giant Eagle on Murray Ave. in Squirrel Hill, I left the bag on my car seat and then walked down the street to Barnes & Noble. When I came back, there was a store-generated note on my windshield with my license number filled in, reminding me that parking there is allowed only while you're actually shopping, not while you're then running errands nearby, and drivers not actively shopping are subject to getting their buggies towed away. I'm guessing they're keeping track of cars that park there repeatedly. I think I might have been noticed exiting the parking lot on foot by a guy rounding up grocery carts. Over the past couple of years, I've parked there many times without actually shopping, but this is the first time anything has been said about it. Just thought I'd let you know. Have you ever been towed from there? | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |

| I've been telling various friends about the love that is Tim-Tams. A friend sent me a package from Australia years ago, and I'm getting a serious craving.
Is there anywhere in the city that sells them? I'd love to be able to get my friends addicted, too.

| I have this friend living in Beechview and has a dilemma. He has a great deal of difficulty supporting rent, utilities, and his rommate on one Walmart income (the roommate did just find a job but has a history of unemployment gaps, firings, and quittings).
What are the local resources I can tell them about? So far, they are looking at rental assistance. They are also looking for places where they can get an auto loan. I told them about credit unions and prosper.com. They tried a few loans but were denied. | comments: 8 comments or Leave a comment |
